180 Build Thread

hahahaha! yep it's the rock's fault!

What are your P04 and nitrate levels? and what test kits are you using?

I have crappy test kits for nitrate/phosphate, API. Last test was 5 ppm for nitrates and I haven't tested for phosphates since on my API kit once you get below 1.0 you can't tell the difference on the color chart, at least I can't.

RBTA decided to move and GHA on my rock.

Not trying to be rude here, but as much cash as you have put down on lighting, filtration, equipment etc. at making this an awesome system, I think you need to bite the bullet for the xtra $150 or so for some decent test kits. So you would actually know what's going on in your system.

Yea +1 Might as well get decent ones. Go with salifert or new red sea pro kits or hanna checkers. I really like the red sea pros very easy to use and refills are cheap

All things in good time. I have exhausted the fish fund. Will be a few months before I have the kitchen pass to buy any more :p

Took care of my water change today. Changed out my carbon in the process and added GFO. Also took a tooth brush to my hair algae and vacuumed it out. Had some bubble algae I broke off and vacuumed out as well.

Zap-tasia Gel rocks. Had a couple that had managed to camouflage themselves to the point my CBB wasn't eating them. Took care of it easily.

Sigh, yellow tang has a bacterial infection. Adding Garlic Guard to my food. Hopefully that helps him fight it off.

This skimmer is still working awesome. I think the RLSS line ended up being a good investment.

Ran for 4 days. It's about 12-14" across. Skimmer is rated for up to a 528 gallon tank.

Wanted to make sure it'd do the job :p. who knows may have a 300 in my future at some point :)
