For the ppl that have 2 gyres set up on opposite end of the tank, which mode or custom setting are you running them at? Anyone use the Lunar cycle or Oceanic gyre cycle? Would love to hear your setup.

I have a 150 on the left side top of my Red sea reefer 450. It's horizontal. On the other end, on the back is a 130 that is perpendicular. Short bursts from each.

I've tried several - forward/reverse, with alternating flow from the pumps worked OK. I have a Gyre 150 (Currently my "Pump A") and a 250.

"Oceanic Gyre" cycle seemed to be simply pushing water - at differing speeds through the day - from both pumps simultaneously. It certainly did help with picking detritus out of the crevices! I found it a bit much in a 65, but will try it again when I move the pumps to the 220.

"Lunar Tidal" cycle didn't seem to work as advertised. The rate of flow changed, but it was all coming from pump "B", with no reversal from pump "A". Again, something I'll have another go at when I move them over.

Currently, they're both set to random-variable flow, with a top speed of 100%. (They're very rarely at that speed, and that not for very long.) Water is gently moving - pretty randomly - in both directions throughout the aquarium.

Looking forward to hearing others' experiences!

I have 2 150s, I actually purchased the advanced controller and returned it. Was not happy with the flow options it had in my tank. I now just have my 2 gyres programmed on my apex to turn on and off every 30 minutes so only 1 is ever on at a time. In my tank with both running and having the flow crash mid tank it cause a lot of my acans and chalices in the mid section to close up and some recede no matter what mode or flow power I had it on. This im sure had more to do with my rock setup and coral placement in my tank.

So, just changed mine up, to help deal with a cyano outbreak...

Pump "A" is on forward / reverse with a six-second pulse, while pump "B" is in random-pulse mode. I can see the "crash" point moving back and forth between one end of the tank and the other, and some of the cyano mats do look as though they're being lifted away, so we'll see how that all works out . . .

(Gotta say, my 250 is a bit more noticeably whiny than my 150 . . . )

I have a 90 gallon and just my second gyre....i am wanting to try the oceanic or tidal settings but i think 100% is too much and i have sand moving at 50%.

Trying to figure out how to set them at 50%....i dont find the users manual to be very user friendly...
