I have a 20 gallon cube aquarium, dimensions are: 17.7 x 17.7 x 15.7 inches. I am struggling to figure out how much can go in the tank. I definitely want a clownfish pair and a royal gramma. I also want a cleaner shrimp, some hermit crabs, and some snails. I really like gobies and wanted to get one or two to put in there but I don't know if that would be too many fish to put in there.

How much stock can go in a tank Is a very debatable topic that depends on many things including rock structure and how much rock is in there. Perimeters and what type of fish you want to go in there. How old I'd the tabk and do you have pictures?.

It’s a completely new tank I’m planning out. I’m going to buy 25lbs of rock for it so a little over 1 pound per gallon. I’m going to try and structure it to where there’s a few layers of rock in the shape of a ring with a gap in the middle.

Ahh tank stocking questions, my favorite :D

Id say fish-wise, a pair of clowns and a gramma is prob about your limit, clowns are slobs and will contribute quite a bit to your bioload

invert-wise, you could easily add some more crabs or snails down the road, so long as the tank has enough algae to support them

Ok you could probably fit all those but no more fish and introduce them slowly.

It all depends on how much work you want to do and the order of fish you add. I’ve seen some people have 8 fish in a 20 gallon but then again the fish are not full grown. We have to remember these fish do get bigger

currently I have a waterbox cube 20 lps and softies corals.
I have a pair of clowns and a royal gramma and a yellow watchman goby. I think 4 fish is pretty good for that size tank.

as for inverts I have 2 scarlet hermits, 2 blue legged hermits, 2 nassarius snails, 4 trochus snails, 4 cerith snails, 3 bumblebee snails, 1 tiger conch, 1 cleaner shrimp, and 1 blue tuxedo urchin.

don’t add everything at once! This was all added in a course of a year.
Have fun!
