I need some advice! My a/c is out and I can't get a repairman until tomorrow. My 12g nano got up to 84 degrees but is now down to 82 after opening the lid and running a paddle fan overhead on high speed. I've heard you can put cold water or ice in the tank to cool it off, but I'm concerned that doing that would temporarily cool the tank then it would heat up again. I'm thinking the temperature fluctuations would be worse than just leaving it alone. The corals all seem fine. The high temp shouldn't last more than 36 hours max. Any thoughts?

I always keep frozen bottles of water on hand for emergency situations. You can put one in and it will last for a long time and keep tank cool.

Would that cool a 12g down too much?

A fan blowing over tank and bag of ice or bottle like above comment. Hell maybe pull some tank water put in the freezer for a bit and pour it back do that couple times.

Already got the fan going full blast. Coral looks fine.

Make sure its RO water,I had a bottle crack and leaked out once..

I have a couple 2 liter bottles frozen,i drop 1 in the sump and it will drop my 120 about a degree..

Depends on the size of the bottle but it takes a long time for it to melt should work great .

My worry is my tank's so little it might cause rapid fluctuations in temp.
