I asked a lfs to order one for me which it did and it came in today. First off I should say this question may be premature but I thought I would see what y'all think. Of course being a meaty coral it has to be hard to ship so it came in with a few teeth showing and deflated. That is a little of my concern but the real thing that bothered me is the mouth was kinda open/gapping a little bit. When I got there he started off with telling me I didn't have to buy it and I could leave it for the weekend and see how it does. I should add it was only out the bag about twenty minutes but I've never seen large Lps have there mouth open when not feeding. The one good thing is he had it laying on its side on a frag rack rather then straight up so I fixed it and it did close its mouth when I did. It also contracted like it should. Ten minutes after that it started to open its flesh back out but the mouth mostly stayed closed. I've yet to see it fully open but I couldn't stay all day so I plan to go back this evening. Although I have no real rush from him to come get it I don't care for the crappy coral tank that every single coral goes into. I usually try to get there when the shipments do to avoid sitting there for long. I wish I had taken a pic but the owner was with me the whole time so I didn't think about it. Do y'all think its just shipping stress or something worse. Thanks for any replys.

Id say go for it. They are my favorite coral due to the amazing colors. They are better to place shaded for a few days to get use to the tank then start letting it have more light. They also take a while to acclimate to their surroundings so don't be afraid if it doesn't inflate immediately. You can check out a thread I made about them a while back to get some more info and identification info

Without a pic its hard to tell, but from what you just explain, it sounds like the lps is stressed from shipping.

Thanks for the replys. I wish I would've got a pic but I think I'm gonna just go get it since I did ask him to get one. Hopefully it does well.

I went back to check on it and it was wide open. I decided to bring it home. Here's a pic of it right after going in the tank. Its green on purple and about the size if my hand closed like this. Should be pretty big when fully open. Its already starting to open but I will post another pic when its open all the way.

Very nice. No colors like that yet but I'm gonna keep my eye out. Here's a pic after about an hour or so. Its nice and fluffy now but I'm thinking I may have to add some rock in places in the tank to calm the flow down a bit around it. Overall it looks healthy.

Very nice! Feed that bad boy some meaty foods and in a month it will amaze you on color.
