My alkalinity is currently at 7.5 and I want to get it to around 8.5 at least. I keep adding alkalinity but it doesn’t go up. I’ve read somewhere that I might have to raise calcium along with alkalinity for the alkalinity to actually go up. Anyone have any info on this?

Extremely low magnesium can make it hard to keep your alkalinity up. But no, adding calcium would not increase alkalinity unless you were using a product like kalk.

What product are you using, what dosage, and what overall tank volume?

Oh ok, I’m using brs 2 part with a spread over 24 hours. Just increased my dosage by 4ml in a 55 gallon system. According to the calculator, it should be raising it nice and slowly but I’ve bumped it a couple times and it stayed the same. Used Hannah and salifert to cross check my alk levels and they’re consistent.
