Hi all, on my ~30gal system, this is my design for an external "chemical filtration" chamber for my sump. Basically, I found a nice 1.5gal container that I want to use so my chemical filtration media has filter floss or some other fine filtration before the water hits it. I am wanting to use this external chamber because I don't want filter floss on my main turnover which is about 400+ gph.
Any tips or ideas... the other option is just to turn it into an extra mini refugium but that wont solve the issue of chemical media getting clogged early.

  • 1.5 gal container fed by an existing 60gph pump
  • UV sterilizer outflow goes directly into this external chamber, easier this way
  • my main chemical filtration is granular activated carbon and seachem cuprisorb
  • will be gravity flow out to the main sump via 3/4" bulkhead and pipe
