I got a 175 36x36x31 glass cages tank for a guy who lost interest in the hobby. The tank came with the glass cages stand as well. He did not have anything under the tank for foam or padding. I set the tank up in my house got it plumbed to the basement. I read online that these tanks should ha e foam under them? I know he did not have foam under it. What should I do? The plumbing is pvc. I can cut it and put in unions if needed but would rather not. Should I lift the front of the tank just enough and slide pieces of foam under it? It takes 4 guys to take this thing on and off the stand.

Not familiar with these tanks however I don't put any type of pad between my tanks & stands. Here is a bump see what others say

either foam under the whole thing or none at all

if you put pieces then those pieces will create pressure points that could crack the tank at any of those pressure points.. it must be supported on the entire bottom

How does one work around the overflow bulk heads. Obviously that would not be supported.

Physics. Large supported area with small unsupported area = less pressure overall in unsupported area

Small supported area with large unsupported area= more pressure on the supported areas

The tank is Euro braced so it is a flat bottom with out a external frame.

I'd think a pad of some kind would not settle evenly, thus not spreading out the weight evenly . Also I "think" most of the weight is at the corners anyway?

Glass cages recommends 3/4 Styrofoam under the tank for warranty purposes.

I guess I'm just looking for a unicorn to come it and say that the foam will just appear and all the plumbing I did was not wasted. I guess I cut it out and add the foam. I know it's what I have to do.

Always best to follow the recommendation of the tank builder ......
