Hello friends, I have a question for those that may have more experience in this topic.

I have a 100 gallon tank which is currently bare bottom. I have about 100 lbs of live sand in my sump, all relatively clean, that I would like to add to the display. When I set up the tank on June 28th I did not paint the bottom glass black and now it shows the stark white styrofoam under the glass.

What is the easiest way to do this since the sand is currently already running in the tank (it’s just in the sump)?

Very slowly. Clean the bottom of the tank as best you can. Then get a small measuring cup and slowly add the sand to the tank bottom. It may take a week to get all the sand moved into to the tank.

Yeah, I have both added sand and 'moved' sand it is yet another process in this hobby that demands patience.

The other bit of advice is that while you are actively moving the sand, turn off as much water movement as possible. However, once you turn it back on, get ready for the sandstorm (cue Darude).

I get the bottom my look like a bit of an eyesore now but given time and stability it can be covered with coralline or even any other corals you that work well at that job. Heck I just picked up a beautiful piece of Monet Madness Cyphastrea that is spreading very rapidly on it’s large plug and I could only imagine how amazing it would look covering the bottom of an entire tank!!! Just a thought. Hehe
