How do people think I could improve? Maybe make it more interesting and exciting? I do quite like the look of bays and open areas, although would like a larger rock scape to cover equipment and provide shelter

Looks good. How does it look to you? That is really the only opinion that matters. If it were in my tank, the only thing I would do is take that far right rock and make it an island in front of the right arch...

I like it for the most part, i feel like it might be a little too open and not give much hiding spaces for the fish and for stuff like bristleworms and pods etc.
ALso the right rock is all one piece where it touches the floor so cant split it off! Do plan to have little islands dotted about with invasice species though such as GSP and Xenia to stop them spreading.
What size tank?
What type of corals are you planning?
Its a 1400mmx45mmx40mm (LxHxW)
Mostly sofites - lots of zoanthids and leathers, as well as goronians and many macro algae species too.

I think your dimensions are off?

Ahhh yeah i think they are too - meant to say 1400 x 400 x 450 (LxWxH)

ok. forget the "you can't go higher than, is it 2/3's?" mentality if your goal is to hide equipment.
I get the "don't go to high" if your doing acros, but since you, nor I are we can ignore that.

my scape breaks the surface in the left rear corner and almost does on the right hand side.
it hides two gyres mounted vertical in each rear corner, a 30" heater, the return line, and the side wall overflow.

so if you go high and come down at an angle towards the bottom, and at an angle from the rear corner towards the center of the front, instead of going long from right to left for half of the scape.
go high along the opposite side wall and then "L" along the back, angling the back rock from high to low towards the center.

should hide most everything, unless you have a center over flow.

or not.

If you have the time and a good cement based adhesive like the one from Fauna Marin, I like to elevate one a mall base and build up and out this freeing the sand bed or BB. Start with the base rock and let it dry then attch anothe rock. If you are clever you can achieve some really nice scapes.

I will post one I just made.

Yeah that would look awesome!

Think of the 2/3 rule of all the space you have in the tank. Go as high as you want but leave 1/3 of the tank "empty". this is supposed to be pleasing to the eye. Or at least that is what I remember from this video I watched the other day and wish I had before I started my tank.
