I very recently got a hawkfish for my 36 gallon tank and one of the clowns that I have is having some issues with him. The problem is not with the hawkfish who is eating very well and isn't injured. Its with the clown, who looks a little beat up and has decided for the past two days that he would rather chase the hawk around the tank during feeding time than eat. Although he is quite healthy and plump I'm worried that he will starve to death rather than let the hawkfish be on the rocks. This aggression has been going on for 4 days.

I am sorry to hear you are having a problem. And rather surprised. My 22 year old ocellaris has lived with3 different flame hawks over the years, about 15 of those years in a 30g. they never had any issues. 2 of the hawks jumped, hence the reason for 3 of them over the years. One of them jumped after 19 years with the clown (by this time in a 75 g). My clown seemed depressed and less active for a long time after that hawk jumped.

if your can either confine one to an acclimation box, or rig up some kind of tank divide, I would try that for a week to see if they get used to each other.
