I was told by my LFS that I need to dose my tank with seachem phytoplankton, I was told 1 ml for every 10 gallons, I dosed yesterday and now there is a brown ring around the top of the sand on the glass and the top of the sand is brownish, I’m getting a sand sifter goby tomorrow so I know he will take care of the sand. But the brown on the glass bothers me.

Also I’m adding 3,000 copepods to the tank for my scooter blenny, will they help with the brown algae?

Howdy
I find it strange for an LFS to have you dose phyto. What was the reason? Pods? Filter feeders?
I would say the brown ring around the tank and whats on the sand bed is dead phyto. Use a magnet cleaner on the glass. I dont think the sand sifter wants to eat the brown stuff. They normally sift out larger organisms.

Whenever you add something organic to your system you've essentially pushed the restart button on the nitrogen cycle in your tank, and to whatever degree your new organic adds is how big the reset is. Brown algae is usually the first sign of this. But since you've added a fish and other organics, this will only lengthen the time of the mini-cycle. I would leave the tank alone from a while and find the equilibrium again. Then try it again slowly, and your system will be able to more easily metabolize the added organics. But don't fear algae, and over correct. Good luck friend!

Yeah He directed me to but 2 bottles of 3000 copepods and dose phyto because I have a scooter blenny, and I told him that my scooter eats mysis, brine, and pellets, he insisted that I buy the two bottles from a seller on eBay and dose with seachem phyto

Scooters are the easy to keep blennys. If was eating different frozen foods, fat and happy there should have been no reason for the live pods. But now that you have them Im sure the scooter is happy as a pig in mud. If you have enough rock and a good amount of film algae in your tank the pods should be ok and breed, if they dont get eaten first. The phyto will help them along. Its not needed unless you are raising them in a bucket or something like that. Since you have it use it.
