experiment I was running I noticed today a instance in with free floating brownish looking slim developed with in 28min after zero water movement wail feeding coral. I will have to get a mico scope from amazon but I was wonder if anyone has ran into this mishap and could ID from the situation I ran into.
Parameters:
nitrate 2
phosphate .02
cal 450
alk 11.5
mag 1350
ph 8.4
temp 78.5
Observation: throughout tank very dark snot like substance started forming from crystal clean water wail feeding corals for a 28 min time frame. after return of pumps the free floating brown substance was swept away and not visible in tank. returning to crystal clean water.
I bacteria dose dr tims run carbon. I dose nitrate to keep it up so that nitrate does not stay at zero. I dose and food just the right amount so that every number is a constant.

Thoughts?
I know what to do and that is stop dr tims and let things just ride out but I was wondering if anyone has done this or ran into this situation. I have zero concerns considering my corals are in great shape with good growth.

Many coral excrete. It was probably just that. Without the current to wash it away it was visible to you. Doubt it it anything to worry about.

Agree. When I stop all pumps. Some of my corals excrete floating slim. Amazed on how much they excrete. My best guess

O rely? Maybee it was from corals. I could have swore it was forming in the still water. Maybee I will have to try this again when I have a microscope and evaluate and study this further. Wonder what it could be
