Hi I've been cleaning my tank every 2nd day to get rid of these things that get caught on my corals.

Any advice how to get rid of it and what caused this?

Also been having some hard bubble on some rocks that is fill with air and greenish yellow.

I have a hair algae outbreak but I added fozface and 2 sea here and they been doing amazing job- huge difference. Almost all gone but still left with bubble algae and other problems.

Also my rtba seem to be splitting is that normal or sign of something wrong?

Any tips and information would help a lot. Thanks.

My level got tested today
0 ammonia
0 nitrite
5 mg/l nitrate
0.25 phophrate
8.5 ph
440 calcium
270 mg/l kh
Temperaure 77.6

Had a gha outbreak a couple months after setting up my tank and one of my rbta’s split. I assume it was due to stress from constantly putting my hands in the tank and algae floating around everywhere. Either way, it’s healthy as a horse now. I chose to run some phosphate remover media (gfo) to give me the upper hand. I commend you on your efforts battling algae is a pita.

@Ryan420r6 great advice:), do you have a clean up crew in place?

Cleanup crew primarily consists of a variety of snails, red leg hermits, and a sally lightfoot crab. My engineer goby also helps by sifting all the sand close to and under the rocks. My bicolor blenny loves eating film algae on the glass as well. Peter luu don’t think that you cleanup will solve all your problems but will compliment good practice/husbandry.

I'm getting a gfo reactor today but do you think it will get rid of those thing float around, getting caught in my corals?

No. You will need to blast your corals with some flow to get the algae off. A turkey baster is a good tool for this job or simply wave your hand to generate some flow (only if your hand is already in the tank of course). If you can remove the coral from the tank you can shake it in the water change bucket as well (good opportunity to grab a toothbrush and clean the plug).

That is high for today’s standards as I see a lot of reefers wanting to stay closer to NSW 8 to 11 dKH -or- 2.86 to 3.89 meq/L (270/17.9 = 15 dKH). I would slowly lower your alkalinity over time if your corals are look ok.

What are some ways to lower it?
