My tank is around 2 years old, water parameters always good. It’s a Fusion 20 with a ghost skimmer and a fluval 306 as a meadia reactor with matrix, carbon and purigen. I run 2 hd primes, it’s a mixed reef. Recently I had a lot of algea and am thinking it’s due to my strong lighting, my question would be, do I get a better skimmer or just put phosban in my fluval canister filter?

Any insight is greatly appreciated

The pic is after cleaning algea.

Algae is directly affected by nutrients and lighting. No food for algae, no growth. Same for lighting.
Phosphate and nitrates contribute directly as a food source.
My suggestion would be to up the water change frequency a little bit with RODI as your source water.
And., Fwiw, algae is something we all deal with....
