Have a new tank that's been up and going a few weeks. Started the tank with established live rock. It was up and running for about two/three weeks when some algea popped up. Literally went from no algea to an infestation over the weekend.

I've taken some pictures of it and wondering what kind of algea it is. I obviousely part of the can be carved up to "new tank syndrome" but at its accelerated infestation I'm wanting to get a better idea of what's going on (i.e. algea identification). I've got a Kole tang in the system and he seems to be going after it pretty agressively.

I did a 30-40% WC today as well and a 20% earlier this week. I also added some chemipure elite and phosphate pads as well.

I think it's your standard hair algae. Usually comes about when you have high phosphates or little competition. Plenty of things will eat it. You can also manually remove it and pull it out or siphoned it.

I was afraid it may be bryopsis

Clean up crew, or sea hare is the remedy to this stuff. Also reduce white intensity a little.
