Alive or dead

Had this tank for two weeks, cleaning the sand I found this on the bottom, anyone know what it is? And when we found it it was not purple at all, also now has a few orange spots on it under the light and one shiny blue eye we believe

Looks like a plate coral skeleton. Purple could be corraline algae growth.

its a plate coral so it could come back, but it is most likely dead, i would leave the skeleton in for at least a few months to see if any flesh comes back though

It's possible your plate will start growing "Anthocaulus", small structures that make baby fungia polyps. See this thread here for some discussion and pics. I would very gently clean the algae off the plate and keep in in moderate light.

I appreciate your input! I am gonna get a few more cleaners for my crew and maybe place him on a rock now knowing what it is!

Update on those specs, they are definitely little plate coral offspring can’t wait to see what they look like when they are grown up!!!

Sad to reply that unfortunately after they grew to a small decent size they died one by one, nothing else did and one held on strong. One day I came home and his glow started to dim and he slowly became a small white skeleton
