Also wish your bird was bigger. Parakeets are small and can get into smaller spaces.

Would a lid help? Also about the bleach and apple cidar vinegar- you said it should be fine since I added the vinegar mixed in water, wiped it, and then added the bleach and soap detergent mix with hot water? Just a TINY bit nervousWell there may need to be some DIY in your future to disappate the air that is coming around there or water probably and direct it elsewhere. There is probably a lot of evaporation or salt creep happening in that specific spot.
Yes for sure. He’s not as quite as small as a parakeet, but he’s pretty small. I’d say mid sizedAlso wish your bird was bigger. Parakeets are small and can get into smaller spaces.

Lid over the entire tank will mess up the gas exchange that will happen in your tank from what I understand..... some sort of Lid around your overflow..... that might help you a bit.Would a lid help? Lol absolutely. The majority of my problems when it comes to fish keeping it the most basic stuff like this. I’m guessing most reefers knew this already, guess I didn’t get the memoyour still with us!! that' s a good sign![]()
Sweet, I almost had a heart attack. I will research some more methods on how to slow evaporation, especially because my parents like to complain about me topping off my water every two daysLid over the entire tank will mess up the gas exchange that will happen in your tank from what I understand..... some sort of Lid around your overflow..... that might help you a bit.
AND you are fine with bleach and vinegar the way you did it. They just can't be mixed together and then used.
1inch holes would be great if she didn't have a parakeet. I like the fan idea. That could work if the fan is pushing air out somewhere.Assuming you have a light mounted in the hood too makes your options a little more limited. You may be able to drill several 1 inch holes in the top. Space them out neatly. And or buy a usb powered fan.. slightly larger than a PC fan that you can have constantly blow underneath your lid somehow.. just brainstorming some ideas.
I don’t yet have a light mounted; I MAY or MAY not be able to get my parents to let me hang one. I’m honestly not sure if I want T5’s or LED’s yet so it will make a difference I’m sureAssuming you have a light mounted in the hood too makes your options a little more limited. You think 1 inch would be too big for a parakeet to sabotage the tank?1inch holes would be great if she didn't have a parakeet. I like the fan idea. That could work if the fan is pushing air out somewhere.
Yes, this is true. I had Tuco, my bird, out a while back and he flew on top of my tank. I was sitting there eyeing him, then got nervous because of the open canopy back. I decided to put a sheet over the tank so he couldn’t get literally inside my tank.. he decided to crawl down the sheet and almost fall into the sump.1inch holes would be great if she didn't have a parakeet. Well you could always do a DIY mesh top but idk how that would hold up with your bird. Not sure how heavy it is. Egg create would be a cheaper and easier option.I don’t yet have a light mounted; I MAY or MAY not be able to get my parents to let me hang one. Its her bird she would know if it is smart enough to drop things into 1inch holes. Every bird I've ever known friends to have was smarter than any dog or cat I've ever had. Cats and dogs like to sabotage tanks I can only assume a bird wouldYou think 1 inch would be too big for a parakeet to sabotage the tank?
LOL. As mad as I get him some times when he rips chunks of my finger out, or try’s to drink my tank water, I will figure out a bird- safe way. A lid and hanging lights may work... conures are easily trainable as well. Every time he heads that way you put him in the cageI say kill the bird and get rid of the canopy. Or kill the bird and then make the canopy open on top and mount lights in there no problems.
That’s what I was thinking. Between the bird and my mom it’s a lose lose situationWell you could always do a DIY mesh top but idk how that would hold up with your bird. Not sure how heavy it is. Egg create would be a cheaper and easier option.
He typically eats in his cage, which he is out of his cage for I would say around 3-4 hours a day. I will try training him... he’s smart, so I bet he will catch on easily just like he did to being potty trainedIts her bird she would know if it is smart enough to drop things into 1inch holes.
