Anemone dead?

Nems love stable water or good water. It does not matter how old the tank is as much as how good the water is. I guess most people suggest 1 year or older tanks for Nems, but I tend to think Nems need to be cared for by 1 or more years of experienced reefers :-).

Most new reefers like to keep nems and most of them kill their first few nems (me for example) ;-)

My first nem turned it's self inside out gapping mouth first with small tissue tears inside it's mouth it was bad when I got it and they fall apart fast after that. they like a hole to get their foot in I have 2 in my tank it used to be one till it split over feeding does that now I don't feed them and they are fine taking food from the water column

+1 on it's looking for a good spot and +1 on making sure you have good stable water. One of my 4 just closed up for a week. He would be in a different spot every day. Once he found where he wanted to be he opened right back up. The other three were fully open the whole time. When I first put them in there were only two. It took nearly 2 months for them to fully acclimate to my tank. During that two months I was sure I might lose them as they were closed and hiding in the rock work most of that time. They are thriving now. Don't try to feed it. Once it's stable and open you can give it a small amount of Mysis maybe once a week. Mine also closed up when they were getting ready to split.
