Hello, I’m new and not sure if this is where to post this question. My anemone has white stuff coming out of its side, just noticed tonight and I pay close attention to this guy. Anyhow, not sure how it got injured, did a partial on Sunday but didn’t mess with the rock or him. Tested my water again today and everything seems in check, this tank is about 2 years now.
Do I put him in a glass bowl on the tank floor to protect him?
These are him tonight, the lower left side is injured.

They’ll move to a more confined spot to heal if they are badly hurt. I just nursed one back to health, put it back on a nice rock and it moved behind some rocks haha. It’s slowly getting bigger now but they tend to take care of themselves. If you start to see the foot looking unhealthy consider putting it in a breeder box (I use the mesh kind for more flow). This gets them out of harms way and allows they to heal up without getting blown around.

I wouldn’t mess with it. Is the foot torn ?
I’m protecting it and watching it tonight. Tomorrow I’ll catch my cleaner shrimp and turn him in, I don’t trust him, he has been all over the anemone so I’ve been spot feeding the shrimp. Hopefully my anemone makes it, I’m just going to watch in case it doesn’t so it doesn’t kill the rest of the tank. He had been doing so well and was stretched out every morning.

Thank you all for your input, I’ve found this place to wonderful for information as I learn in order to (take over) help my husband with this tank.

Welcome to R2R!!! My cleaner shrimp hangs around my anemone as well. Likes to try to steel food from him. How long have you had your tank?

My husband has had it for 2 years, I started on it 2-3 month ago. We had saltwaters many years ago but experienced a terrible problem and shut them down. It’s taken me a long time to get over loosing all those fish, corals, and rock... I had loved those tanks

Sorry to hear that it kicked the bucket. FYI with a lot of target feeding and keeping an eye on the little guy they should make a come back. Mine hid behind a rock for a few weeks when i got it. It turned very pale and stringy with its mouth protruding maybe minutes away from death. I moved it to a higher flow spot with much light and target fed everyday. Somehow it pulled through and made a comeback.

This is what it looked like when it started getting its color back.

I target fed mysis.

Beautiful tank! I’m going to wait a long while before attempting again, first is to get rid of this huge cleaner shrimp.
