Hello, recently lost a carpet anenome after 10yrs. Add a yellow pacific anenome and dying after 72hrs. First 48 looked great, then just went south. 55gal, 18yrs old . Had a real battle with nitrates and was determined to get them to 0. I recently acheived that goal . Got rid of bio balls added refugi and growing tone of macro algae. Also added reactor with denitrate stones and np-active pearls. Figured if I got nitrates to 0-2 all my problems would go away. Well nitrates under control but now losing anenomes. Ideas on what problem is. I know my nitrates , ammonia and phosphates are close to 0 .
I have few pieces of coral which is alive and been so for few months. I added these once nitrates went to 0 . I Add buffer for ph , believe above 8. Not sure of other numbers. Ideas on what is killing anenomes?
