Another plumbing question

I am planning on running a 1.5" return from my pump. It is going up 10" from my basement and into the tank. I have been looking at return kits that increase the flow when the water enters the DT. The biggest i see is 3/4, would reducing 1.5 to 3/4 after a 10' run put a lot of strain on the pump? Are return kits even necessary if i have 2 powerheads?

What kind of pump needs an output line of 1.5 inches? I think you should stay with the exit size from your pump or one size larger.

Eductors or flow increasers add additional head to the pump. You are already asking a lot of of the pump to raise water from the basement to the display, make sure your pump will handle the additional head the eductor adds.
To me it is much wiser to use powerheads of propeller pumps to supplement the flow in the display since they only use a couple of watts eah versus the tremendous amount of power required to push water from the basement then circulate the display. You are looking at a very big pump to do so and you are talking 120 or more watts 24/7/365 depending on the pump and flows you are wanting. It adds up on the power bill every month. I cut my power bill $50-$75 a month just by going to a more efficient pump, changing to LED lighting and eliminating the chiller the old set up required.

Yeah I guess with 2 powerheads circulating around 1600 gph I dont really need to put any more stress on my return pump, thanks for the help!
