Hello. I am trying to set up DOS #2 and for the life of me I can’t get my APEX to recognize it. I am running firmware 4.53_4D19.

When I plug in power initially, the lights blink. When I plug in the aquabus cable to either a orange label module, apex jr, or legacy eb8, the lights stop blinking and show solid. However I do not see any new tiles being generated (hidden or otherwise) in Fusion or classic (laptop). I can’t manually prime the pumps.

I’ve used 2 different aquabus cables. I’ve reset the Apex by unplugging and plugging back in. I’ve updated every module I have, and as mentioned the firmware should be up to date. My other DOS is working fine.

Any suggestions?

Go to the very top of Fusion page and new items should be there. You just have to drag them down to where you want them

First you need to verify the DOS module itself is recognized. In Fusion, click the gear icon at the top to expand the menu icons, then click the System View icon:

From the System View, look to see if your DOS shows up. If it does, click it to reveal each Output name:

If the DOS does not appear, then it's either defective, or the AquaBus port and/or cable is defective. As a last resort, try rebooting the Apex and then connecting the DOS again.

Give this a read. It fixed mine...

Thanks. I read this over and it’s great to know. But in this case, Apex isn’t even recognizing the DOS, so I can’t start the update process unplugged to begin the remedy. Unless I’m missing something, I’m not sure this will work.

Is there a way to do a hard reset using the priming buttons?

Is it possibly taking a long time to initialize because the unit has old firmware and the apex has updated firmware?

Thanks everyone.

Is this DOS new from the factory, or did you buy it used? If used, do you know for sure it's functional?

If you have a friend or a nearby LFS that has an Apex, you could ask if they could connect it to verify it's not defective.

I GOT IT TO WORK!

The Apex Junior I am using allows for a maximum 7 modules. The 2nd DOS was my 8th. I removed a less important module (PM1 for ORP), and the DOS works now.

Thank you for all of your suggestions, including @vetteguy53081 for suggesting I call Neptune.

Hopefully this helps someone in the future.
Thank you to member @Trigun470, who was willing to reimburse me assuming the unit was non-operational.

Glad you got it to work!

For future reference, always mention the model of Apex you have from the start. When you posted firmware 4.53_4D19, I assumed you were using the Apex Classic, but didn't think about the Jr, so its lower module limit didn't cross my mind as the possible problem.
