Hi everyone, I recently lost a fish in my 10 gallon tank. I did my best to remove the carcass from the tank. I want to make sure I haven’t messed the water parameters which would affect other fishes. I tested for ammonia using API master test kit. Can any one tell me what does this reading? Is there still some ammonia left in it? I think it’s between 0 and 0.25 ppm. Thank you all.

API marine test kit is notoriously wrong. You can test any water from any source and you will get a reading.

Wow that’s Interesting. I was getting a 0 previously. Assuming this is somewhat accurate.

My API kit has been pretty reliable, have brought samples to my LFS to confirm. 0 should be a almost transparent yellow. I also have a ammonia alert tab from seachem in my sump as a quick glance fall back.

Same here, that ammonia alert badge is a great way to keep a close eye on the ammonia.

That's 0. I like the alert badges too, they last a year, but they take a while to change color so if you have a problem come up quickly I wouldn't rely on the alert badge. I've never had a problem with API kits.
