My api and salifert nitrate tests are giving me very different results. API is showing close to 0 nitrates (no visible coloration whatsoever, solid yellow) and my salifert test is showing 25ppm. Neither test is expired (api is 4 years away from expiration date). Which would you trust? Salifert? Neither?

Def salifert.

That is a wide range for different results; I would redo, being careful to follow protocols. If results are still this different I would find a LFS to run a "tie breaker." If I had to choose, Salifert definitely.

If you have to trust one, trust the salifert. The API kits aren't great.

A lot of people read the salifert kits the wrong way though.
