Does anyone run these lights on their tanks ??? does anyone have any experience with these lights ? looking to replace my metal halides with leds and thinking about the Apollo SolorBlast Ultra from Reef Led....but i was hoping to hear some feedback and experiences with these fixtures first.... please let me know if you run them or have run them on your reef tanks....Thank You

M&M on this forum has them just search his screen name. He has pictures of them running as well.
 
I have them on my display tank. Check out my build. Also have Evo's on my down stairs tank. Like both. Happy reefing. God Bless.
 
anybody else have any experience with these fixtures ??

The prior light was a 400 watt 10KXM on a reefflux reflector.

PAR was a measured 205 at the surface then.

The Apollo was 105 at the surface.

No kidding replacement for a 175-250mh.

Zoas and Softes are growing well. For a SPS tank w Clams this large 3 would work well.

Personally I like to see 200 PAR at the sand bed. DIY is a bit more efficient. But if you dont want to DIY the Apollo is on PAR (Please excuse the PUN) with the AI.

Lots of LED Options....DIY offers maximum flexibility with a little extra work.

so what your saying is the par at the sandbed with the Apollo is way lower than a 400 watt MH ?? i have a 20" deep tank and am running 250 watt MH now with LPS dom tank.....so your saying i am getting more par with my MH ??? i would like to build a DIY set but i cant even come close to the price with a DIY because after i get the heat sinks and fans and all that...
 
PAR is what I measured. For my setup it was half the PAR of a 400 watt 10K XM MH with a ReefFlux Reflector at the surface. This is a distance of 43". IMHO The Apollo stood well.

You will get more PAR with a 400 watt MH. You will have about the same PAR as a 250 watt MH and only draw 123 Watts based on my KillaWatt Meter.

DIY offers more flexibility and more efficient LEDs but for the Money Apollo is the best alternative to DIY and is about the same in price.

Compared to a T5 or MH setup there is no comparison the Apollo wins hands down.

I am lucky enough to have the owner of Apollo come to my house with his par meter. We measured 210par in the sand bed of a 90gal tank with a 1" sand bed. My tank is a oceanic with the large glass center support and under the glass support the par was 175 in the sand bed. At 12" under the surface the par reading was 550 and at 18" it was 375. I have my fixtures 8" above the surface of the water.
 
thanks for the info everyone........looks like im gonna take the plunge and get 3 of the Apollo's......is there a way of hooking an enercell into the fixtures to be able to dim the led's ???
