Aquarium Pricing Differences

I don't do Facebook, so I have no way of contacting them. This alone took them out of the running - I can't stand companies that rely solely on a 3rd party for marketing/contact.

AFAIK they strictly use a dealer network and never quote prices on FB.
Are there any dealers in your location that may be able to get you a price? If not I can give you a contact # to my local dealer.

Forgot I received a quote from them a while back through a friend who shut down his store.

$3299 shipped (3/4" glass)

That's a better price than you have gotten elsewhere with using 3/4 glass.
Is that rimmed or rimless?

Prices certainly do change when going to a thicker glass. 2 years ago, IIRC, I paid just under $900 for my 60x24x24. Rimmed with black silicone.

It all depends on your own sense of what makes a quality tank. Many people will not really care and any tank would work for them. While others are very picky about every little detail of a tank build. I have been lucky over the years to see many tanks thru my travels around the US visiting friends thru MACNA visits as well as talk to all the various tank manufacturers. If I wanted a custom tank I would go with a Reef Savvy.

60x36x30, Starfire on 3 sides, Black silicone, Black back, Ghost style overflow, 3/4" glass all around, Trimless, Return holes drilled top back corners.

I was skeptical about the value of armored seams, but I let Felix at Reef Savvy talk me into ordering them on my new tank. Once I started regularly cleaning the glass the value was obvious. It's an absolutely awesome feature. Love it.

When you are talking about perhaps the single most important item that has to do with your fish tank, I would not skimp on quality and certainly not be making a purchased based soley on cost. To me, cost must be a consideration, but quality craftsmanship is a priority. Any tank that I need in the future will be from Reef Savvy. The quality difference is obvious when compared side by side to another tank. If it means waiting a few more months to save up a few more bucks, then so be it.

I went through custom aquariums and couldn't be happier
Their sumps are a unique design and I really like them if you decide to get one

My filtration will be plumbed to my basement, so I have rubbermaid tubs. Thanks for your post!

Multiple times in this thread, people say "quality is a priority", which I agree. BUT - what is the difference?!?!? There aren't many variations in building a tank. Glass is glass - the 2 most important parts I can come up with are:

1. Seals/Seams
2. Structural support (bracing, etc)

Question about the armored seams as I have never seen them in person - is it just a bunch of black silicone laid in to a triangle shape to protect the seam?

No, it is an extra piece of glass running from top to bottom on the inside 4 corners that entirely shields the silicone seam. For my 180 gallon, with 3/4" glass, the armor glass is about 3/8" thick on the side facing the front of the aquarium, and about 1" wide on the side facing the left and right of the aquarium. When cleaning the glass I can clean right up to it and not worry about harming the silicone. This is basically what the front left corner looks like, viewed from the top. When I ordered I was worried it would not look good, but it actually blends in quite well and looks nice.

Similar situation more examples. Dimensions 7'Lx3'Dx2'H. All with overflow and steel stand except reef savvy has no stand. Elos stand is finished wood. All glass is low iron. All rimless.
Custom Aquariums 6800 depending on glass thicknesses no tax shipping included. I used .75 as everyone else.
AGE 7000 PVC bottom + tax and ship I'm in Texas so tax applies.
Reef Savvy 8500 Phantom bottom no tax plus shipping and crate fees. Reef Savvy is also only 30" D
ELOS 200xl 7600-8000 taxed and not taxed which is just under stated dimensions. It's 78.5"Lx31.5Dx24.5H
Miracles 7000 delivered to freight depot.
Crystal Dynamics 6600 no tax plus shipping 1.5" bottom
AGE and Custom aquariums drop over 1000 if you go with support as they can use thinner glass.
