So I know this thread almost requires a pic, so I will try and get one tonight with my crappy camera.

One of my Armaggedon polyps was closed for about two weeks. The rest of the polyps on the frag were open and looked fine. I noticed yesterday that it had finally opened, and the color and pattern on it have completely changed!!! The color is brighter, almost a glowing red compared to the others, and there is less black in the pattern. It is clearly different than it was before and compared to the others.

Have you guys ever experienced this? This has happened once before with another paly of mine, having completely morphed after being closed for a few days. Pretty cool!!

I frequently see patterns morph on zoas/palys after they've been closed for a while. Colors smear and mix, and tentacle colors are often on the oral disc (i.e. red in the center of spidermans, green in the center of orange dragon eyes). Usually they revert back to the normal coloration after a short while though.

I wouldn't put it passed it, all polyps morph at one point or the other be it, coloration, pattern, size, looks etc.

I agree... I'm interested to see how the polyp will be in a few weeks of being open... nonetheless, it's pretty exciting to see... I remember a few different morphs do this... maybe they're cleaning themselves from the inside... that's why they are brighter when they finally open... :)

i think when that happens with zoas/palys is that they go so long without light that their color is just off and it will go back to normal. I had my goblin of fire zoas do that where they closed up for about a week and when they were finally open again they had a crazy orange glow mixed with the green, but after about 2 weeks of being open now they are back to the normaly green middle with orange skrits.
I think that its just bleached out from not getting light, it would be cool if it stayed that way! i wish my goblins of fire would have stayed the way they looked after being closed up!
