I have a nice sized colony of Asterospicularia.

It seems my filefish has acquired a taste for it. You can see the damage on both ends. Not surprising, I have relocated all the other softies to another tank as the little darling enjoys them as well. All but the mushrooms, ah why can't he eat the mushrooms. But I digress.

The Astero is a nice centerpiece, adds movement and color and I have had it for quite some time (8 years?). I am also fond of the filefish in spite of his evil ways (or maybe because of) and he keep aiptasia at bay in this tank.

According to my research, this coral is kinda rare and sought after. Is that true? Not looking to profit, would gladly pass on pieces to other hobbyists, but I don't know if anyone would even want some. What say you?

Looks nice! The waving of the polyps in the current is relaxing. But it looks a lot like anthelia to me, not that I'm saying it is as provenance or where it came from is one way we have to determine a species/genotype/variety. Looks like it's being cultured by ORA so while it may be uncommon in aquaia it's not what I would consider rare.

Thanks gents.

I bought it from lLive Aquaria many years ago. Dug out the packing slip and that is what they called it. I saw the ORA one but that is brownish and this is a nice purple-blue.

Anyway, wanted to confirm it is not unobtanium before I allow the filefish to decimate it. I do have a couple smaller pieces in another tank too.
