It's been 25 years since I kept a reef tank. 5 weeks ago I setup a biocube32. Cycled after 3 weeks, waited an additional week and a 5 gal water change before adding 2 small oscillates clowns. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 10 nitrates, 78F, pH 8.0, salinity 1.026. Haven't seemed to be able to elevate pH, do I care? Also, do I need to lower salinity a bit or is it ok? Plan on adding a couple more small fish and a clean up crew of the next 6-8 weeks. Then on to some gsp and such, eventually a nem in due time.

I keep my tanks ph at 8.0 - 8.1 because that is my natural water and don't feel like trying to dose to chase a number... everything is happy. Stability is more important than a 0.1 difference

I personally aim for a salinity of 1.025 -- 1.026 is ok but as your water evaporates that number will creep up until you top it off with distilled. So having it a little bit lower will give you a bit of buffer as water evaporates. Don't change the salinity quickly though. When I change the salinity it is usually over 2-3 weeks

welcome back! :)

Take also into consideration that it is not so simple to obtain an accurate pH value with both chemical or electronical way
