I have a 13.5 fluval and I upgraded the pump to a sicce 1.0. With the hood and light on the tank was at 82 degrees. I thought it might be the heater. Now no hood and no heat on and it is still at 79. Does the pump cause enough heat to warm up a tank like this??
Thanks in advance

You may want to consider a temperature controller with a cooling fan for when the tank gets too warm. Are you here any household heat sources?

No the tanks not near any heat. I'm just thinking the pump is too big or just causing too much heat.im gonna try a different pump this week and see what happens.

Yes, pumps do throw off heat. Would hate to see you give up on the pump, because it is well rated and a good choice.

Pumps do kick off heat. It might be a bit too big for your tank. Sicce makes a .5, and I run it on my CaRx. Solid little workhorse and not too pricey.

Yes I was thinking of going that way if I can't get the heat under control
I'm about ready to swap out the one on my CaRx. Not that it's bad or anything, but it has been running for two years. If you can wait a couple days and PM me your mailing Addy, I'll drop ship it to you and you can see if it suits your setup before making the purchase.

Thanks very much I appreciate it

I could probably get it to you by maybe Thursday at the latest. No charge. It would only collect dust in my pile o' stuff anyways.

79 very acceptable for temp. I suspect the pump may be transmitting heat which is not unheard of.

I sent the address.dont rush all I have in the tank is a few hermit crabs. Just trying to get things where I want before adding Amy livestock
I sent you a reply :-)

I agree but as soon as I put the hood and light on is jumps up to 82 or so
If youre at 79 and with hood it increases, it likely heat from the light. Are you able to ventilate with little holes drilled into the hood ?
