Best algae scrapper....

Melamine Sponge or better known commercially as Magic Eraser cleans glass and acrylic better than anything out there.

Definitely Tunze long. Absolutely love it. Also use Nanomag by Two Little Fisies for areas that are tight between live rock and the glass.

I used to use a MagFloat. Now I use
Hammerhead Float Plus by ALGAE FREE. Super strong scraper that comes with an easily detachable stainless blade. I've never felt a magnet this strong. I haven't even needed the blade because the magnet strength with the velcro is so strong.

Only thing is they're overly expensive for a scraper. I think I got mine on sale for $65. They make a bunch of different models, bigger and smaller. Works great though

Been in the hobby 25yrs and I've used them all and my favorite so far has been the flipper! It's thin profile is great in those little spaces that thicker magnets can't get into

When using the stainless steel blades, do you leave them in the tank or pull them out?

I've been using a regular ol magfloat for the last year and the velcro cleans the algae well enough. I use a Kent marine pro scraper for the bottom (near the sand) and the back wall. It's worked great!

Bought a mag float for every tank I had for decades. Bought a 'Flipper' some time back, liked it so well, I wrote a lengthy post about how great it was. Won a Tunze long at a raffle last year... makes the flipper seem crude by comparison. My new tank is 3/4" glass... I gotta buy the strong+ version of the Tunze now... and they're not cheap :p

I think the strong is rated for. 75 inch glass

I use the Algae Free magnetic cleaners. Hammerhead for my 75 and Tiger Shark for my 120.

this+1
hammerhead is the best and strongest scrapper i've used IME and they also look nice and doesn't look out of place when left in tank

I'll add about the flipper .... it will get any encrusted coralline on your glass and it will go above the water line to get that stuff too. Others may have stronger magnets but the flipper does what it has to do. If you have greater than 1/2" glass you should consider other magnets but on 1/2" it works great.

After readind the opinions all of u i orders tunze......

So the FlipperMax will not work on 1 inch tank?

I just switched from a mag float to a tunze care long. I use the plastics blades on my 1/2" glass and it works great. You only need the metal blade if you have tougher, stuck-on algae. The good part is that you can scrape below the sand line without getting grains of sand stuck underneath it and scratching your glass. The only downside is that the wet part doesn't float. So if it falls off at the corner, you have to go in after it. But it's still worth it in my opinion.

I have the regular flipper and it is advertised for up to 1/2" glass. The flippermax says it's good for up to one inch glass. I'm sure that's right.
