Hello All,

Im setting up my 90 gallon and still have a full cycle to go through, but I am wondering what everyone recommends for schooling fish. It’s been a couple years since I have been in the hobby but back then I was under the assumption green chromis were the least aggressive and one of the safest bets. However as of late I have read many posts on many different mediums explaining that many(4-5) chromis will end up being few in short time. I have been setting up tanks in the aquarium hobby since I was ten years old(starting in fresh water) and have learned a lot so I understand there are a lot of factors here such as space, population, etc. but I enjoy learning and would appreciate the input regardless of the answer. Pics of your schooling fish would be great too!

Thank you

Fish will not school/shoal in a tank. Especially something as small as a 90. They may group up a little like chromis but most certainly will not school or shoal...

Yes I certainly don’t mean school like the ocean but stay in a group together somewhat peacefully if possible.

Cardinal fish

Cardinals are excellent dither fish. They congregate in the open. I have Pajama Cardinals.
