I'm not particularly thrilled with my mag 7. I'm looking for about 500gph maybe a little higher. My biggest priority is quiet! I've been looking at the tunze return or ehiem.

Quiet One Pumps. Been using them for years, never a problem.

I had two Quiet Ones literally go up in flames, sparks, electrified tank water and all, you couldn't give me one. They both had trouble restarting after shut off, ran extremely hot to the touch and were anything but quiet.

Mag is not much better in my book, hot, vibrate and draw higher than average wattage. I would suggest Eheim, Ocean Runner and now I have found Water Blasters to be extremely quiet, use very little energy compared to the others and don't add much heat due to being so efficient.

Look at the dc pumps. I'm going to be buying a dc pump in the next few weeks to replace a cheapo i've got as a return pump.

the RO DC pumps are not only quiet but silent. i have a few of the dc10500s for returns and at full bore (2500+gph) you cannot hear them. i also have a few RO dc5500 skimer pumps and completely silent as well.

I have owned eheim pumps (1250, 1260 and 1262) for years and never had an issue with them. They are very reliable and fairly quiet.

Recently picked up a Tunze 1073.50 (I believe this the is the same as the Sicce pumps). This pump is quieter that the eheim and the variable rate on the pump is a great feature
