Hello all. I was wondering how often are bio-ceramic rings supposed to be replaced, and also if they are supposed to be rinsed and reused? Thanks for any help.

Hope all is well this evening

When you say bio rings are you describing the ones like Fluval or a Marine Pure media? Just wanted to be sure, and how are they being used? They in a sump, HOB, or canister?

This way we can be sure to get the correct direction going

Like the Fluval ones. They are in their own mesh bag inside a filter sock in the sump.

You do not replace them. They are a permanent home for bacteria. However, if they are in a filter sock, they will get clogged and will need to be rinsed with some tank water (freshwater and tap will kill the bacteria). I recommend having them after your sock.

ps I want to steal your dog lol
