Birmingham!!!!

Just sittin back grinnin ...shock and awe ...but unlike me. keepin my mouth shut :crossedlips:

Yes we have had a swap and I dont mean a get together at someone's house but a true to form swap at a venue . It was held at a members church we charged food goods for entry fee which we donated to the church .. Also we used to have a large group that got together every month we had large BBQ'S and swapped coral but then we started to try and make it formal by charging dues that we would use for group supplies and also have by-laws and that is when it started to fall apart . We went from having 30 people show up every month to about 4 . We also would car pool to all frag swaps that were in the Alabama , TENN area.

Sounds like the result of weak managment. A good coral club requires strict discipline. Not showing up for meetings must be met with swift punishment.

Is there even an official Bham group. I know we've got together a few times at Marks house. If everyone wants to get together let's come up with a plan, nothing official. But I'm interested

I'd be interested in a get together. I don't have anything to swap currently, unless anyone is interested in some gsp, but would love to meet people.

I live in a loft building directly next to Workplay and we've got a club room we could use and I'm centrally located... I've got the space/time... a thought

Also I'm next door to a new bar/grill, a HUGE new place opening this month called Iron City Bar/Grill. It's literally a dozen steps from the door.

That sounds cool Liquid, maybe just a "interest meeting" to see where everyone stands.

I think having an organized, dues paying club would have some great advantages. Use the funds to purchase things like a club use PAR meter, library, etc.

I've spent the last 10 years as a founding member/officer on the board of Disc Golf Birmingham, the group that supports/maintains/installs the disc golf courses in the greater b'ham area so I have a bit of experience in the bureaucracy of these things.

I used to own a bar/cafe in mountain brook called Liquid 360, so I have a bit of experience also. I figure if nothing else it'd be nice to be able pull together orders to avoid shipping charges. It's also always nice to know people in the hobby... help out when needed, have resources for those times when u gotta leave town, etc...

Also I've not been able to work in 8 years. I've got nothing but time for such pursuits.

I don't suppose there are any reef hobbyists here that also happen to be into amateur astronomy?

Well, there were two solid courses in Trussville, but they've been pulled because of some construction. They'll be back in the fall hopefully.

We just finished a course in Inverness, it's a beast! I usually show two or three under par at GW, but I can barely break 10 over at that course!

We could meet on a Sunday if that's better for everyone.... shall we take a vote? How about we pick actual dates to see how many would show... vote for one or either...
