how much is a pair of these worth? i bought them on a whim and now need a ball park price to get rid of them

A mated pair or just 2 clowns? I know hyperboy from fishyeyeservices sales his for $75 each. He is the original seller besides ORA.
Alphacorals is selling SA black ice for $145 each. Bit too high IMO.

its a pair i dont believe they are mated yet but they are premium black ice so im thinking 100 each ish does that sound about right?

The ones that alpha corals is selling are alot nicer than the ones that hyperboy is selling for $75. Trust me I know, I just bought one from alpha and compared to the ones that hyperboys has available first.

If they are nice then 100 each doesn't sound bad at all.

Hyperboy also sells some super smores. (he calls them smores) They have the middle and front stripes connecting. He sells them for $125 each.

Alpha's may look better because they are older. Hyperboy sells his really young. They are just about an inch long when he puts them up for sale. As the grow, they will develop more black and look like the ones from Alphacorals.

After I placed my order with SA I asked them to review my site and provide price feedback. I was told that my prices on the site are better than average and competitive. Thats at $145 for SA Black Ice. I cannot say anything about any other breeders Black Ice at this point as I have only ordered these from SA. They do come in pretty large. I haven't sold any at that price though. If your a Reef2Reef member and only for R2R members it was $210 shipped. I'll take care of my people ;)

You contradicted your self in that post more than once.

First off last I knew, Hyperboy was selling them for $175 FWIW.

Second, he sells them smaller and not aged. Alpha has aged fish, more care has to be given to them to make them grow, which means more food, which, then again, means more money in the fish.

Looking at it and comparing this larger fish who looks better and has had better care (I would know, I helped develope Alphas systems for his facility). vs. a smaller fish who is being bread by a hobbiest whos system we know nothing about.

Not trying to be rude, but I just felt like you were attacking Alpha then trying to cover up for it. Kris is a great guy and I have had many phone calls with him and he is one awesome dude and wont rip a soul off.

Thanks

Is Alpha growing out the SA clowns? I took it as he was just holding them till they sold. As far as having better care wouldnt you have to look at SA they care for the fish the majority of its life.

Nah man, I'm not attacking him. I have seen his tanks and acans on N-R and they look amazing! I do plan to buy from him once he gets them up for sale.

I agree with everything you said except for one thing. The 1st thing you said. I am not sure what FWIW means haha, but this is what HB said on N-R when he puts them up for sale...
As before, these fish are ~1" in length...perfect for a nano reef! WYSIWYG Just PM with the number(s) fish you want. Fish 1-5 are $75ea.

Not dissing any breeders, they are amazing clowns! If I had the extra cash, I would buy them from Alpha, but if I only had a limit on how much I could spend, I would buy from Hyperboy. My tank is a 10g so I think the smaller ones would do better, but I would be scared that they would die being so young.

I would suggest $210 shipped for a pair of Black Ice :) If you figure shipping of $80 which is average for me these days, thats $65 per fish.

Thanks for the support everyone :)

That's a really good deal.

Those extreme snow onyx are sweet! Do you know when you will have some acans up for sale?

Since seeing is believing here are a couple of pics so everyone can see. This first pic is I think the nicest smore that was most recently available and in hyperboy's defense past ones have been nicer. The price is $75+$50 shipping, $125 total.

In this pic is the one that I got from alphacorals, although a crappy pic, I believe it to be a nicer fish and cost me $140 shipped. I think it was well worth the extra $15 and not over priced at all. Older animals showing their full potential are more expensive, and in this case not by much.

And just a quick disclaimer, I am in no way attacking hyperboy as a breeder or the quality of his fish. I am merely speaking to what I believe is a better deal and the fact that alphacorals fish are not overpriced.

I would like to toot Kris' horn at AlphaCorals, if I may. I recently bought 2 of the Black Ice clowns from him, they are by far my favorite fish. They arrived in perfect condition, healthy and happy. This was my first online fish purchase, I would not hesitate to buy from him again. Kris went far and beyond in the customer service department as well, he replied to emails immediately and asked for pics when they get a little older!! Seriously how many of your lfs ask for pictures? Kris your the best!! Keep up the GREAT work and thanks for the best fish EVER!!
