Hello all! I am fairly new to reefing, I have had my tank established for about 8 months now. I haven't had any real issues so far, except for some green film algae on my dry rock over time.

Recently I started to see these black spots show up in my tank, only where the green film algae is (higher lighting areas). I am thinking it is the beginning stages of red hair algae, but would like a second opinion.

I am running GFO, Carbon, and do 5% water changes weekly. I do not skip maintenance.

I will supply parameters tomorrow.

Remove it, and place against a lighter backround or the sand, use the macro option for the image. :-)

are they stationary?
The blurryiness of the photo kinda makes me think stomatella

They are stationary, and they are not easily removed. I tried scraping at it with my nail, and it took some decent effort to scrape away. These dark spots have spread pretty rapidly from the moment I first identified them, over the course of 2 weeks.
