Hello everyone, j bought a blue tang from the fish shop and they did courier it. But instead of morning delivery our nz post didn’t deliver before late afternoon and actually I did pick it up from the post office. The fish was nearly dead. Didn’t move and didn’t breathe. I put the air pump and finally she did recover from upside down position to normal within 20 hours. This is good story :)) BUT same time I discovered on the face of the fish like a skin damage and holes from two sides:((( is it from transporting or its infection or??? Please help! I love this fish. He is a big boy, but something wrong. I don’t know how to help him!!!!

@evgensk, Looks like HLLE to me. Heavy breathing could be stress from shipping or the water quality had declined from the time of shipping.

How did you acclimate it?

For fish that have been delayed in shipment and or roughed up during shipping (scrapes, rubs, abrasions) the risk of infection runs high.
The gills have probably been damaged by high ammonia and low O2. A bath in methylene blue would certainly help with both helping the gills to transpire O2 and helps with cuts, scrapes.
I would consider treating the QT with Ruby Reef Rally. It works both as an antibiotic and antiseptic. Then observe or treat for further bacterial infections. A wide spectrum antibiotic if needed would be wise: kanaplex, Furan2, Sulfaplex (aka Triple Sulfa), NFG powder.

i put the bag with blue tang in the sump for 30 min to get temperature equal and start dripping the water from my tank for few hours, once the bag was full the fish start to be much better. also I put the air stone with compressor in the bag for the time when he was in the bag (3-4 hours) I didn't want to put him in the tank fast as he wasn't able to hold his body in vertical position , he was laying on the side and i did help him to stay right , poor boy - so stressfull night for my family as well

Who ships a fish with holes anywhere??
HLLE and HOLE IN HEAD disease.
High likelihood of vitamin deficiency
At minimum, feed:
Nori soaked with garlic
Mysis with vitamins (selcon)
Plankton
LRS herbivore diet
SFB formula 2(flake & frozen)
Spirulina brine shrimp

temporarily remove carbon and maintain good water quality

They offered to replace with anything on the same value, they sad they didn’t notice anything before shipment, what looks for me strange as fish was with holes and damage straight from the poly box /fish bag

I have seen far worse get better and thrive. Pull carbon, feed well. My experience on pulling out the sick fish to treat always kills the fish. Hepatus are easily sick but very hardy.

How to soak the nori with garlic? What’s proportion? Thanks and for how long to soak?

Hippo/regal is highly prone to HLLE - that’s what this looks like to me. Continues to amaze me that folks persist in recommending garlic. There’s no demonstrable evidence that it does anything LOL (and at least one article I recall that suggest potential, damage). Big Gs recommendations are solid. Methylene blue is helpful in calming a new fish and easing any gill damage (I personally use nitrofuracin green powder, if you can find it). Assuming you can get it past initial problems, feed a varied diet and the HLLE should improve.

If you're going to use anything with the nori, rubbing a bit of Selcon into it until it softens up may help.
At the very least, many fish love Selcon-soaked nori, and not just the herbivores!
Wrasses, clownfish, I've even seen butterflyfish gobble it down. :)
