I set up my 125 gal w/30 gal sump April ‘18 with 100lb of life rock and only rodi water. I started up slow since I was losing fish in the beginning. Water parameters looked good and 3-4 months ago added a few more fish. I currently have 5 medium size fish (2 in. Long). For last month, I have had brown type of and algae or residue appearing. It would bracket and coral or mushroom I put in take killing it. I’ve read somewhere that this is part of the cycling process. Not sure if that’s correct..
I check my water parameters constantly and have zero nitrates, nitrates, and ammonia. I ve never had a test by myself or from fish store where I had any levels of these.
Once I had a slight level of phosphates but that lowere few days later.
Anyone have suggestions to get rid of this? Or what I maybe doing wrong?

Sounds like you have the DINOS

You need more nitrate than phosphate.

Aim for 4-10 nitrate and 0.03 phosphate.

Long battle ahead of you.
