Thinking about replacing my premium live branch rock with BRS Pukani Dry Eco Aquarium Live Rock. My only issue is I cant see the rock.... Who has had any experience with buying dry rock from them or from any other online place? Any reasons not to order?

After seeing the marco rocks at macna one thing i didnt care for was they seem to be pretty uniform in shape. round rocks with lots of holes ranging in size.

BRS has a lot of interesting ways to create different shapes and caves etc etc. Plus In my fathers 330 he has just put in all fake rock. I was skeptic at first. But I think the scapes that can be made and the uniformity looks natural imo because when i went snorkeling a lot of the rocks looked the same. I think its kinda nice

I used some in my set up and have been fighting algae for over 6 months. Can't swear that it came from the rock but its my best guess. I have heard of several other people having problems with the pukani rock as well

I got some rubble from them, great stuff, it has lots of dead corals and sponges from the ocean, so I was pretty sure it couldnt be that old, but they were big pieces for rubble, and very good looking too.

Im ordering only because I like the look. hahahaha ive started to develop the habit of changing my aquascape completely so often.. it drains money but keeps giving the tank a new feel every so often.

I have used their dry rock and will definitely do the same in the future. I agree no more dealing with pests and unwanted algae from live rock.

pukani does have organics in it so keep that in mind when it comes time to use it.

I used their EcoSaver rock and was very happy with my 180gl sps build. But it will have dead material that will need to work through a cycle before you stock your tank. Supposedly, Reef Rocks is much cleaning and less dead material inside the rock.

In either case, I would NEVER use live rock form another tank again. Too many hitchhikers imo...........

HTH

I didn't have any problems with the Pukani. I had mine curing in a saltwater bin for about 2 months with a few pieces of live rock and it really cut down on the cycling time. The only rock I had issues with algae was one of the live rock pieces I had used to seed the Pukani.

You can't beat the price when it is on sale and the free shipping deal.

My tank started with BRS rock. Honestly it was the best thing I ever did. The rock was nice and clean so no pests at all. It doesn't cause algae as many say or at least I didn't have any. I would recommend it for sure. Just be sure to give your tank more time to cycle as it doesn't have the die off live rock will have to help the cycle along.

I'm going to soak in a bucket/container of saltwater beforehand so it doesnt absorb so much algae and organic material when it goes in?

i would soak it in ro/di first as pukani will surely have alot of phosphates.

guys the op is asking about pukani rock not eco saver rock. different rocks and pukani is dried rock not mined

Alrightie about how long do you guys think I should soak it? I think a lot of the problems with the rock is its so pourous and when you put it in the water if it hasnt already been soaked it tends to suck up the nutrients and algae and retain it correct? If i do that Group buy I do also get a discount if im not mistaken.. Which is good for me esp
