Here I have a video of a Tech M bryopsis/algae dip test. We all know that Tech M is an effective bryopsis remover, but at what cost? I plan to do testing on some algae in my tank over the next few weeks and I am documenting it for all to see. I heard somewhere that you can dip the algae so I am trying to find a good mixture and solution.

Here is day 1. More to come as I get time to edit the videos.

Based off what you've done here is put the bryopsis in an unacceptable environment, for bryopsis. In turn what has happened is survival of the fittest. The hairs turned a little lighter in color and released from the unacceptable position they were in, originally. Those filaments have clinged onto the rock scape behind the net and are now thriving again. Not entirely sure it's the tech-M per say as I've seen bryopsis have the same reaction in a low nutrient system.

It is crazy what's required to try and contain this stuff. Not that I have hard documented facts but Most that come calling for help do not seem to get full eradication of this algae. Those that say the got rid of it with h2o2 or even tech m have not come back 1 year later to say that the tank is still bry free. I can't imagine creating such a sterile environment to try and rid the tank of this stuff. Once that effort lacks it'll pop right back up. If a company wants to make good money, produce a product to rid tanks of this algae for good. I believe this is one of those things that can def make someone leave the hobby. The amount of effort, money, and will power is way past what you'd expect in owning a saltwater tank.

I have bryopsis. For the most part, manual removal is best way to eradicate, since the filaments have a hard time regrowing, once pulled. You can get it down to once a week or biweekly maintenance. For the most part, annoying as heck. I decided to start over. I will say, I've learned to remove frag plugs. I will never have another frag plug in my tank, unless it's my own frag plug provided by myself. That and dipping are the most effective ways to not catch any STDs or FTDs lol.. Frag transmitted diseases.

LOL, nicely put. I'm getting really close to starting over myself. Not gonna get into all that I've done but it's A LOT!!! It keeps coming back and I know I'll never be bry free. At most I'll contain it somewhat. Not a way to live owning a SW tank, takes all the joy out.
