Hi all, probably a dumb question, but can’t seem to find details of what I’m after and I have no idea. Wondering if that solid piece between the sand and bubbles is the skeleton or rock? As seen in the pic, it has a Aiptasia and I would like to cut this off if it’s a rock.

It should not matter if it is skeleton or rock as it has been growing algae on it but maybe you would want to leave the coral in and spot treat the aiptasia with Aiptasia-x or one of the other brands;that way when more heads show up you can treat them as well.

That is the coral's skeleton. Which is also a rock. Limestone.
It should be pretty easy to take a razor blade, or other such tool, and scrape that aiptasia off the skeleton. The skeleton is not alive, so doing this won't hurt the coral. Deep inside, and closer to the top of the skeleton, there is living tissue, so don't dig a real deep hole in it.
Peace

Thanks for the replies, I will take. Razor to it tonight and fill the hole with glue. Moving everything over to a new tank this weekend, so finding it now was a blessing.
