Hi fellas,

Question around BTAs.

I've got a few forest fire BTA... And they've already split a few times.

Do they split because they are happy or unhappy ? Or it's just them doing their thing (unexplained) ?

Started with 2, they grow and then split. Now I got 6, they haven't moved much, other the the new one that splits (which I have to relocate to ensure it doesn't go around stinging my whole tank).

I see some tanks where they have massive single BTA's.

My tank parameters seem fine, 5 ppm nitrate, 0.12ppm phosphate, 10 DKH, temp 25 Celsius.

They also mostly look happy, although I do have really high flow in my tank for my SPS's liking.

They split to take over more territory and they split when disturbed or when failing water quality makes them split, perhaps to increase chance of survival? imo.

But they do what they want. IF you want to raise them they would likely respond by not splitting, and if you want one big one they will split monthly.

I have heard some peoples have split in response to a large feeding, or from a large water change, or a tank move. I would call those instances a disturbance for the anemone, and the response seem to be split, again, likely to increase the survival of the nem by cloning itself and increasing chances?
