Bubble Tip Anemones

Is there any correlation between bubble tip anemones having the bubbles and the anemone health?
There is alot of speculation about this subject. And nobody has been able to come up with a definitive answer to my knowledge. My belief is that if the anemone is happy and has a full tummy the tentacles are bubbled, if it's hungry it thins and stretches them out to potentially catch good. What's the rest of #reefsquad 's take on this subject?

My Anemones get fed 1 whole Hikari Krill Every other day, and the Skunks feed them LRS and RODS daily. They are definitely not hungry. I have 1 in low flow, I have 1 in higher flow, one in high light, one in lower light. Absolutely no correlation. They bubble up sometimes, add other times no.

Personally, no correlation with bubbles.

Bubbles appear when the Anemone “swells up”. What causes it? It’s a mystery.

I recently pulled a small rock out to clean it of bubble algae. Upon removing the rock, a bristle worm fell into the mouth of my RBTA. He immediately folded up and shriveled into hiding. Thought I had killed it. 2 hrs later he came out and bubbles up for the first time. Been about a week since that happened and he is starting to extend his tentacles again. My assumption is that if they hungry, they will extend. Assuming all other variables are equal, which they rarely ever are. My two cents.

I too tend to agree with Zack's comments. I don't see any correlation. They are strange creatures to say the least.

And the Mistry has been answered, oh not yet:p:D:D

I have often wondered what I was doing wrong. Mine have split, and are huge, but not bubbles with two clowns hosting:)

I’ll see if Lighting is a factor. This Thursday or next Thursday I’ll be getting an AI Prime, but of an upgrade from my corallifes. We’ll see!

My experience has been similar to others. I have not been able to find the exact reason. Sometimes one might be inclined to draw a conclusion based on certain factors but correlation is not causation in this case. I finally gave up trying understand nems

The only difference is the lights went out. BUT, this isn’t the normal reaction. Most times it will shrink up a little bit to see very little of the mouth and oral plate and only tentacles. It is about that time for them to start spawning, wonder if it’s going down tonight [emoji848]

This posts are quite common, the only trend I see is that with every claim to be the cause, there is a counter claim.

BTAs in the same tank next to each other with one bubbles and the other not.

I think it will be a mystery that won't be solved, except maybe a scientific study was carried out..possibly.

They can eat bristle worms? If that’s the case I will start feeding mine the worms, cause I’m not a fan of bristle worms, they kinda freak me out.
