I removed the carbon and got the light in today. Seems pretty well made but I don’t really like it because I’ll only be running it under 20% brightness but the fan doesn’t vary speed and is very loud. If the fan speed was variable it would have been great, thinking about returning it...

I have the same viparspectra light. I do not even hear the fans running.. my skimmer is louder.
Give it a few more days for the lights to adjust and maybe the fans will quiet down.

Believe it or not. The fan in my Kessil a150w is twice as loud.

I actually already returned it, there was a high pitch whining sound on one of the fans. If you stopped the one fan the noise would go away. At 5% on each channel with that much fan noise was unacceptable. My living room is silent so it was very obvious. I actually have a a360we on the way now but I might return that also because it says it’s arriving tomorrow but hasn’t shipped yet. Was watching reviews on YouTube yesterday and one guy said the a150 was much louder then the a160 and a360we. I’m trying right now blocking off 50% of the leds to see if the situation improves.

Yah.. there should not be much noise coming from the fan.. a noise like that is not good.
You are also working with and AIO tank.. if you had a sump you would never notice the fans at all.

Sounds like I should avoid having a sump in the future. :)

Depends on the size of your next tank. I would never go back to an AIO tank after having a sump. I love the way you can tweak the tank, and the options you can have. It all outweighs the little noise out have. You just have to remember it's also how it is all set up. There are tricks to make the tank and sump almost silent.

Without a TV on, and it is totally quiet in the house, you would only notice the noise of the tank due to the water being ejected from the skimmer

If it was in a cabinet beneath the display tank I think it could be fairly quiet. Was actually looking into getting a canister filter so that the tank becomes more or less silent. I read that you can hear the pink skunk clownfish popping their jaws and stuff .

That’s good to know. Any tips on running a canister filter? Actually, which one do you have?

I have one for a Max of a 5 gal tank.. smaller then what you need. I think it is made by Tom's.
Only tip I have is be sure all your hoses are tight and you fill it all the way or you will get air bubbles Les for the first half hour.

The Anemone maybe too far gone. I would keep an eye on it. If it goes south you need to get it out of there ASAP.

Btw are you feeding it?

I have one question. What color was the nem before you bought it? Like at the LFS? Assuming you didnt buy it online.

OK so I tested my water parameters this morning after I've been dosing bacteria everyday for a week and I was still reading ammonia. I was doing some research this morning and decided to go buy a bottle of distilled water and added Instant Ocean salt to it and it was also reading some ammonia so I think the API test kit I have is not accurate.

Don't see any improvement on the anemone so far.

Distilled water + Salt:
PH: 8.2 pH
Ammonia: 0.25 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: 0 ppm

Nitrite: 0.25 ppm
Nitrate: 5 ppm

It was green, the tentacles have shortened considerably but I would say the body itself is about the same size. Now this anemone has gone through a lot, it got sucked halfway through my filter intake and I had to pull it out. I also removed it from the rock 2 or 3 times to try to get it to the position I wanted. And I know I'm not really supposed to move it but I was very careful and I don't plan on moving it again.

Good news everybody! The anemone started eating last week and has been gradually regaining it's color.
