Hi I'm interested in seeing what you folks recommend for a budget lighting build. I'm looking into a twin 250w metal halide with four 54w t5s (around $300 and i think it has really good bang for the buck). Now I don't want to spend thousands on leds but if it's really worth saving up for I don't mind picking up a pair of maxspects or similar lights for my 90g. I currently have twin 150w mh 20k with 8' of automotive blue leds and i feel like i could put alot more light on the tank for better growth. Any thoughts and recommendations are appreciated, thanks!

Anytime someone mentions a budget build I always tell them to keep an eye on the sale threads on reef2reef. Much cheaper to upgrade that way.

IMO I would run halide/led or T5/led combo. For $300 in LEDs stuff and whatever pair of halides or maybe one big halide, or a T5 retro kit for 6 bulbs or so should grow anything you want, give you shimmer and save you're electric bill monthly.
