I've had this percula for around 2 years now, and this is the first time this has happened. I've noticed that it had several red marks on its cheek, with white protrusions. Today, I noticed that the area had swelled up a little. All of the tank parameters seem normal enough...although I am dealing with a cyano outbreak at the moment. Other tank mates include: 3 blue-green chromis and 2 firefish, as well as several Euphyllia corals. If anyone could help, that would be great!

Is he being hosted your hammer? I was just reading where someone had the same issue, and it turned out that he was getting stung by the frogspawn that was hosting him. Since the hammer is in the same family I would think its very possible.

If the fish is not emaciated or lethargic, which would indicate a bacterial infection, I would agree with the assessment that the Euphyllia has stung it. Watch it closely. If it does not heal up in 4 or 5 days I would remove it to another tank and possibly treat it with an antiseptic.

If the clown if eating try Melafix.
