My ecotech backup battery is no longer holding a charge. I was wondering if it's possible to simply change the battery instead of buying a whole new unit?

Yes, you can very easily find a replacement battery. When I replaced mine, I used a battery that was twice the capacity with no problems. I used some aluminum channel to extend the original case to accommodate the larger size. Almost any sealed lead-acid battery will work. Look for a local battery supplier, the kind that services emergency lighting, fire alarm panels, etc., like tnrtechnical.com. You may also find them at retail specialty battery stores.

Derrr... Please excuse my ignorance could you please tell me which battery I should get?

For those interested I just took mine a part. Very easy to do and the battery looks pretty easy to replace. I actually purchase a new one for under $40, should be here in a few days.

$40 bucks and I payed $160. Hummm doesn't sound right.

Well, actually $35/free shipping with prime. ;)
You can find the exact same battery, there's a bar code on the other side of the battery that you can use with a smart phone.
