I got a couple polyps from trade about a month ago. When I got them in they looked ok but not great color. At the time I only had room on the bottom of my frag tank and that is where they have been ever since. They get medium flow and I would think lower light. Since I have had them the polyps have tripled in size, gotten amazing color and are sprouting a bunch of new heads. I wanted to put them in my DT but to be honest they seem to do be doing too good to move them. The stalks are stretched but considering the polyps size, color and health that doesnt worry me. What would you all do? Here is what they look like now.

Man, Im terrified with moving them and having all that goodness go south. Everybody else say move them up?

I would have to agree to move them up they shouldn't be that extended. Although most zoos and palys look better on the sandbed I moved mine up and the color looked better.

Send them my way, Ill do a test to see what lighting they respond to most..

I agree that they probably need more light. I have these about 20 inches under a 250 Aquaconnect.

They look 10x better under high light

My suggestion, if they're growing well where they are, would be to leave them there until you're ready to frag them. Then, frag them, put the frags back in the same place long enough to recover, then move one of the frags higher up. Much less risk of losing them all that way.

i Had mine on my frag rack for ever and they grew fast and looked really nice and i had them under 100w T-5, and 150w MH and they were only about 8inches away from the light.

Update: I did move them onto the frag rack and they are doing great. They arent reaching as much and look happy as can be. Once I get a frag I'll move them to my display.

Mine were doing great but stretching like that for more light. So i moved em. And they all melted :(

Remember a lot of zoos come from shallow waters. They can take a lot of light.

Sorry to Highjack this.
How high should my MH250 14k bulb be from the top of the water? Also how far below the light should the Zoas be. right now my bulb is about 8" above water and the zoas are about 6-8" below will this work?
